General Information

Set in a beautifully unspoilt, remote setting of olive groves, glimmering shores, bare mountains and dramatic rocks, the Hot Springs at Eftalou provide visitors with an opportunity to have one of the most relaxing experiences they are ever likely to savor.

A must-have experience if you are keen to become initiated into an age-old restorative treatment, a dip inside the hot healing water of Eftalou will leave you feeling deeply rejuvenated. Containing chloride, sodium, radium and a variety of minerals, the spring water of Eftalou may relieve gynecological and skin conditions, neuralgia, rheumatism, gallstones, and arthritis, along with a variety of other ailments. Immerse yourself in the thermal spring water, feel its restorative work on your body, and lose track of time in the moist, steamy environment of the bathhouse. The experience is one of profoundest invigoration, even if, to some, the healing water is initially a little hotter to what they are accustomed.

If you find yourself in western Lesvos, do seek out the bathhouse on the main beach of Eftalou. Situated right on the shore, the well-managed Ottoman bathhouse contains a common bathing pool and is available for use by lone visitors, couples or groups of up to 6 people. For those who require privacy, or would prefer to adjust the temperature of the spring water to their own taste, it might be wise to use a private basin in the adjacent, new spa facilities.

Permeating the bathhouse, the sound of the waves rolling against the shore is a perpetual reminder of the intermarriage between this ancient restorative treatment and the multifaceted splendor of western Lesvos. Favored by the Romans and Ottomans for its ability to soothe the body and appease the mind, a dip in the thermal water will revitalize you beyond all expectation. For a truly exhilarating experience, you are encouraged to sea just outside.

Opening Times

The bathhouse is open between 09:00 am and 18:00 pm. There is a charge of 5.00 € to use the new bathing facilities and 4.00 € to use the common bathing pool. While here, why not enjoy a professional full-body massage, which is also available on the premises.

Nearby Attractions

If few experiences beat the pleasure of relaxing into the steamy environment of the bathhouse of Eftalou, the village itself is a wonderful location to visit. Whether you’re on an exploration of the wider Mithymna region or seeking to spend your holiday in a quiet seaside spot famous for its tranquility, make sure to devote some time to becoming acquainted with the dramatic, unspoilt landscape around Eftalou. The shore here extends for a total of 10 kilometers towards the harbor of Sykamia, and - as it offers a considerable degree of seclusion - is much favored by naturists.

The main beach at Eftalou (Khrisi Akti, as it called, with its highly descriptive meaning of ‘Golden Shore’) is easily accessible by local bus or by a twenty-minute walk from the town of Molivos. The long, pebble-and-sand beach is favored for its clear waters and serene atmosphere, yet beach mats and rubber sandals might be a necessity here, as some may find the beach pebbles too hard to lie or walk upon.

To make the most of your visit to Eftalou, do pop in to the local, privately-owned Yoga School. The School owners organize a series of workshops - choose one that suits you, come to the class and enjoy a sense of spiritual enlightenment that beautifully complements one’s experience of the remote, tranquil landscape.

In the vicinity of Eftalou, at the end of the asphalt road running along the seafront, the pebbled shore of Agii Anargyri (Agioi Anargyroi) is comprised of six inlets backed by a cliff. There are several changing cabins and showers, a beachside taverna and the small Agii Anargyri chapel. Another Blue Flag beach, the beach at Agii Anargyri is one of the prettiest on Lesvos island.
