Atsiki
What I will see and do around Atsiki village:
• Temple of Ag. Giorgos
• Idyllic sand dunes
• Faraklou geological monument
• Gomati Beach with a backdrop of desert-like sand dunes
Atsiki is the third largest village on the island (after Myrina and Moudros) and sits in a fertile plain. The name of this village is derived from the word for Attica and indicates the settling of Athenians here. Atsiki has a large downtown square where you can enjoy your coffee or dinner at the many quaint cafes and tavernas. A short walk through the narrow streets of the village will lead you to the impressive church Agios Giorgos, with its large stone tower.
Just outside the village of Atsiki, you’ll come across an ideal place for admiring Mother Nature, as this spot is home to two unique landscapes; the sand dunes (Pachies Ammoudies) in Katalakko and the ever-impressive geological site Faraklou, near the village Propouli. Take a swim at the adjacent Gomati beach.
Meander your way through the surrounding villages to discover the long-sought traditional, local factories that make orange juice and lemonade.
