Evdilos
Evdilos, is a traditional seaside Ikarian resort, built amphitheatrically on a hill in the northern part of the island. Built in the early 19th century, this village was the principle town of the island during the Ottoman occupation of 1834-1912. Nowadays, there is the second largest port of Ikaria, after Agios Kirikos.
It is worth to take a walk through the narrow cobblestone streets of the settlement, among the floral gardens of the beautiful mansions and the traditional houses of the typical Aegean architecture. The small harbor, which is full of fishing boats, complements the traditional aura of the settlement.
In the area, you will find many restaurants and traditional taverns, as well as numerous hotel accommodations to contribute to your comfortable and pleasant stay. During the summer, the bars of Evdilos attract many young people and stay open till the first morning hours.
Not far away from the village, you will find the secluded beaches of Fytema, Partheni, Kerami and Kyparisi, all of which are well known for their crystal clear waters. For the lovers of nature, we would suggest that they visit the river of Kyparisi, which is one of the most important wetlands of the island.
