Gomati
Next to the village of Katalakos, and at a distance of 20 km from the island’s capital of Myrina, you will come face-to-face with one of the most beautiful sights on Limnos, Gomati Beach. The impressive and vast sand dunes at Gomati, known as the “Sandy Pachies”, will give you the illusion that you’ve just landed in the desert…but this desert comes with a beautiful beach and the deep-blue waters of the Aegean Sea!
Enjoy a swim in these refreshing and rejuvenating waters, while taking in the green, natural environment of Limnos. The shoreline at Gomati is quite long and is unprotected from the wind, which makes it a great location for wind surfing, while its geologic make-up….rocks, stones and pebbles on one end and deep, thick sand on the other…gives it a splendid night-and-day contrast.
Gomati Beach is quite suitable for that quiet getaway, from a peaceful swim to a casual walk along the sandy shore, to having tourist amenities and services such as lodging, dining and shopping. The beach itself offers umbrellas and lounge chairs free-of-charge, a beach bar and even a small taverna . It would also be worthwhile, after your day at the beach comes to a close, to visit the small church, St Nicholas, which is nearby.
