Palace of Ioustiniani
The palace of Ioustiniani lies next to South Gate of the castle of Chios. It is a historic building built in the 15th century and it housed the Headquarters of the Genoese. After the irreparable loss suffered by the Turks, it was rebuilt in 1980 and now houses important Byzantine exhibits.
In the museum there are Byzantine frescoes, icons and ornate statues. What is more, you will have the opportunity to admire detached frescoes dated back to the 14th century from the church of Panagia Krinis, a part of the 12th century image of the representation of the Assumption as well as a marble parapet with depictions of mythical animals.
