Chrysostomos
The village of Chrysostomos, which is also known as Aperichou, lies on the west of the principle town of Ikaria and it is built amphitheatrically on the verdant slopes of a mountain. Beautiful stone houses and elaborate churches of the 17th and 18th century fulfill this settlement. It is worth to following the path that leads to the famous small cave of “Mitera ton Neron” (Mother of Water). On your way, you will also see an old traditional olive press.
Near the town, you can find the monument of George Spanos, a hero who lost his life during the Ikarian Revolution of 1912. The overgrown canyon of Ryakas, is ideal for hiking, or just taking a walk among nature.
Finally, not far from the settlement, the beach of Livadi, which is not very crowded and I well known for its crystal clear blue water.
