Easter in Thimena

The traditions of Thimena are kept alive through the feasts and the customs revived. A typical example of it, is the celebration of Easter which includes picking of branches by the children of the island and burning them on the night of Resurrection.

The flames that emerge in combination with the homemade fireworks, make up the spectacular Easter custom that has not been abandoned by Thimena’s inhabitants despite the passage of the years.
