Dictatorship in Greece

 

 

 

April 21st, 1967: Once again, the crowned, democratic government is overthrown, this time via military coup, which installed a dictatorship.  A few months later, in 1968, a dictatorial constitution was drafted and enforced.  The monarchy is done away with, followed still by yet another constitution (1973), while George Papadopoulos, leader of the military coup, assumes the presidency.

July 23rd, 1974:  This date marked the collapse of the dictatorship and the political stage of Greece would change yet again.
