Hidden amidst an isolated cove in the area of Marathokampos, you will discover a small, pebble-beach named Agios Ioannis Eleimon.  This spot of heaven is ideally situated for solitary getaways and calming dips.  To get here, you follow the main road of Marathokampos - Kallithea, and then cut off onto an unpaved road for approximately 4 km. At road’s end you’ll find yourself in Palaiohori and shortly thereafter, the beach.  In addition to swimming, every visitor should check out the small church, after which the beach is named.

A footpath at the church grounds will take you deep into the countryside and along the shore where you’ll find several, small clothing-optional swimming spots….far away from any peering eyes!  When visiting the beach at Agios Ioannis Eleimon, it is important that you pack some food and water with you, as there are no facilities or amenities to speak of; it is just you and Mother Nature.  The closest lodging is in the village of Marathokabos.

Gagou Beach is your perfect option for anyone looking to get away from it all….people, traffic, cars, noise….civilization altogether!  Here you’ll find a small, well-kept beach, in the northeast region of the island, on the Gulf of Vathi.  Gagou Beach is well-known in the area for the sheerness of her waters, guaranteed by the Blue Flag.  This sheltered, pebble-sand beach, in addition to a wonderful swimming and relaxing experience, offers up some nice seafood tastes at its seaside tavern.  You will also find ample options for accommodations and entertainment in the surrounding area.

In the far northeast reaches of the island, about 2km from the harbor of Karlovassi, you’ll find the scenic Potami Beach, with her large pebble-stones and cold, clear water emanating from the namesake river.  Here you will encounter large, forceful waves, especially when the north winds blow, but also her deep waters set against a plush-green backdrop.

Don’t miss out on trekking down the footpath (from Potami Beach) leading to a breathtaking waterfall, quietly hidden amidst a deep-green forest.  Once here…Potami Beach and the waterfall…you won’t want to leave…it is that beautiful!  Continue down the path for another 2km, and 2 small, picturesque lakes will come into view, where you can take a dip or dive off the many boulders surrounding it.

Potami Beach, set in the heart of nature, invites you for a casual swim.  Although this beach is not maintained, it does offer free umbrellas and lounge chairs.  You also can enjoy a delicious Greek dish, or a coffee, or a mixed-drink at the small taverna and café-bar located right on her shores.

On the road to Kallithea, you’ll see Votsalakia stretched along a coastline 3km in length on the Gulf of Marathokampou, at a distance of about 46 km from the island’s capital.  The beach (also known as Kampos) is large in size and can be found alongside Ormo Marathokampou, a seaside tourist resort.  The gorgeous blend of sand and the multi-colored pebbles create an exotic aura.

Nestled in the protection of the gulf, the beach invites you to swim in her ever-clear waters, and then indulge in your favorite Greek dish or coffee at the small tavern, located right on the beach.  Votsalakia Beach is well maintained and even offers visitors a variety of water sports.  The whole surrounding area is summer-friendly, and an ideal place to accommodate couples and families with all their needs.

On the southern coast of Samos, at the 9km mark from the capital city, and a stone’s throw from the shores of Asia Minor, you’ll discover Psili Ammos Beach, which owes its name to its beautiful, white sand dunes.  The waters of this small beach are shallow and crystal-clear, and attract many visitors and tourists alike.  Steep slopes snuggle and protect the beach from winds and create a perfect seaside atmosphere for swimming and relaxing under the sun.  Psili Ammos Beach is also clothing-optional in certain areas.

Getting to Psili Ammos Beach is quite simple, as it is only a short drive from the capital, while after your swimming or beach activities, you can visit one of two attractive tavernas amidst the shade of pine trees.  Both spots are located on the one road leading to and from the beach.
