Agios Efstratios is included in the protected area network «Natura 2000» because of its significant habitat. The island is suitable for spearfishing because the numerous islets are known fishing spots. If you have a boat we suggest you visit the sea caves where the seals Monachus monachus breed their babies.

 Furthermore,  during  your walks in nature, you will have the opportunity to encounter different species of birds (Mavropetritis [“Eleonora’s Falcon”], Thalasokorakes {“Shag (Mediterranean sub-species)”], gulls, Michos [“Manx Shearwater”]) that nest in the rocks of the island. The oak trees  that adorn the beaches offer a green touch to the island as well as a refreshing thick shade. You  can choose various hiking trails and meet beautiful chapels as well as important historical monuments.

Last but not least, it should be noted that the island also has a helipad and port where several boats can anchor. To do a trip around the island by boat, you will need about 3 hours.
