The old village which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1968 is perched on a hilltop overlooking the harbor. The houses of the settlement were stone-built, with two or three floors as well as with wooden columns and traditional architecture. From the earthquake the building of Marasleios School, that previously housed the elementary school (1912 – 1968), remained intact.
