Traditional products that you should not miss tasting while you are on Ikaria, is “Kalathoura”, a tasty cheese made of goat milk from animals that gaze on the lush hills of the island, as well as the local meat of Raska, which is taken from wild goats of the region. It is also a good opportunity for you to taste the Pramnio wine, which has been famous since the Homer’s time for its rich aroma and full flavor.
For those of you who love honey, you should definitely get a jar of local honey. Beekiping shows strong growth on the island and Ikarian honey is considered to be one of the finest in Greece. Finally, we would suggest that you taste the delicious sweets, especially the rose sweet, which has been produced on the island since 1930 and is one its most famous goodies.
