On the 15th of August, the whole island is transformed into a great festival, since in almost every village there is a church dedicated to Holy Mary that celebrates that day. Great celebrations are held at Christos Rachon and at the deserted village of Lagadas, Traditional food, plenty of wine and a folk orchestra will accompany you till the first morning hours. Feasts with folk music, dance, food and drinking are as well held at the villages Monokampi, Kouniadous, Drakades, Karavostamno, Gialistari (where you can taste plenty of seafood) and Akamatra. The settlements Chrysostomo, Perdiki, Kossikia Kampa and Marmaria Panagia, celebrate on the 15th of August as well.
